It's been 7 days since Ike came barrelling through our Texas coast. I still know people who have no power! Even so, life is slowly returning to normal. School starts on Monday for me and Tuesday for my son. I know a lot of parents will be cheering! It's still eerie to see trees laying in neighbors' yards and fences toppled over.
I want to thank all the many workers who are putting in very long hours to get our community running again. These men and women are working 12-16 hour days --leaving their own home to help others. Next time you see a CenterPoint truck, AT&T van, or a waste management vehicle, wave at them. Let them cut in front of you in traffic! And be glad that you can go home to dinner and your computer. :)

Hurricane Ike
Welcome to Katy Tidbits! This blog is created as a direct result of Hurricane Ike. Even though we are the lucky ones who now have power and internet access, I feel cut off from many of my friends and co-workers.
Most of us in Katy, Texas were lucky when you look at the Texas coast. We had some roof damage and a fence knocked over, but we have been able to return to a somewhat normal life. I went to Houston a couple of days ago, and brought ice to some friends. They may not have electricity for another 5 days or more!
